Attendees of any APS in-person or virtual events are expected to meet standards of professional conduct as described in the APS Code of Conduct. Violations of these standards may disqualify people from future participation.

Visit the Dynamic Compression Sector (DCS) at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), Lemont, IL

This tour is offered in parallel with other activities on Wednesday June 21st, with charter-bus boarding from the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk Hotel at 2:15PM.  Returning to the Sheraton at approximately 5PM. Being sponsored by DCS, this tour is free of charge.

The Dynamic Compression Sector constitutes a new paradigm for understanding the dynamic compression and deformation response of materials on ns-μs time scales and at multiple length scales.  Real-time, atomistic-scale investigations of condensed matter phenomena can be undertaken in single event experiments through time-resolved, in-situ measurements utilizing the tunable, high energy X-ray capabilities.  DCS staff will guide potential new users on a tour to learn about the experimental capabilities and facilities available that address both scientific and programmatic challenges. https://dcs-aps.wsu.edu/facilities/

Space is limited and available on a first come first serve basis.
