Participation Grants for Attending SCCM 2025
This year the SCCM 2025 Conference is offering a limited number of Participation Grants to enable student and post-doctoral researcher participation during the 2025 biennial conference in Washington DC. This offer applies to students and post-docs who present their research at SCCM 2025. Go here to submit your abstract to SCCM 2025.
Participation grant recipients must have graduated with a Ph.D., or be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program, or an undergraduate program at a U.S. or international institution and conducting cutting-edge research in the science of dynamic or static compression.
Students: Advisors of prospective student attendees should email a one-page statement of need, motivating the request for a participation grant, to the SCCM 2025 Conference Co-Chairs at SCCMgrants@llnl.gov. The statement of need should include a brief description of the student’s research and how participation at SCCM 2025 will benefit the student. The statement should thoroughly justify the student’s qualifications for a grant.
Post-Doctoral scientists: should email a one-page statement of need, motivating the request for a participation grant, to the SCCM 2025 Conference Co-Chairs at SCCMgrants@llnl.gov. The statement of need should include a brief description of their research and how participation at SCCM 2025 will benefit them. The statement should thoroughly justify the post-doc’s qualifications for a grant.
The application deadline is Friday, March. 7, 2025.
Include the applicant’s information:

- Presentation Title for SCCM 2025 (denote oral or poster)
The SCCM 2025 Conference Co-Chairs, Damian Swift, Bill Proud, Scott Crockett and Pat Kalita will review applications and notify grant recipients by mid-April 2025.
SCCM 2025 Policy: Priority will be given to those who apply first and based on financial need. An advisor must apply for only one student and a request is appropriate only if the student would not participate without a student grant or have difficulty participating. A student who is first author on an SCCM 2025 talk or poster is more likely to receive a grant than a student coauthor. The advisor’s email message should thoroughly justify the student's qualifications for a participation grant. A post-doc who is first author on an SCCM 2025 talk or poster is more likely to receive a grant than a post-doc coauthor.
