Dear APS DPP Community,
We are Jessica Eskew, Elon Price, Nivedan Vishwanath, and Jaela Whitfield, the organizers of APS DPP's 2025 Student Day. We would like to invite you to promote Student Day to the students and faculty attending APS DPP this year.
Student Day is a half-day event (1:00-6:00 pm) on Sunday, November 16th, organized by students, for students. It aims to help first-time conference attendees feel more comfortable and build a supportive community. Since its inception in 2019, Student Day has grown rapidly,
with ~230 attendees in 2024. The event features a tutorial talk, lightning talks, and group activities, all presented by students.
Student Day is designed for all students, from undergraduates to advanced graduate students. It offers opportunities to learn about plasma topics and engage with early-career scientists in a relaxed environment. Participation is limited to students who have not yet received their terminal degrees (PhD or equivalent).
We are currently soliciting student talks, including 25 minute long-form tutorials (to be given by senior PhD students) and 10-minute lightning talks. Nominations should be submitted by the student's advisor via our Google form or email.
Student Day will take place from 1:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, November 16th, with a $30 registration fee (paid with APS-DPP registration). Students are encouraged to arrive in Long Beach on the morning of November 16th. Space will be provided for students coming straight from the airport.

Thank you for helping us grow the field and create a welcoming community in plasma physics!
Best regards,
—
