Unaffiliated solicitors alert
We want to alert you that you may encounter false claims that are connected to our upcoming meeting, the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) Conference via email. The message is a scam attempting to collect personal or financial information and was not sent by us.

APS reminds you to only register and book your housing directly through this DPP Meeting website, and that it is solely the responsibility of the attendee to register and book their hotel.

We know this kind of activity is frustrating. Thank you for staying alert and helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for our community.

Call for Abstract Submission

Open: Monday, June 2, 2025
Close: Monday, July 28, 2025, 11:59 pm Eastern Time

Thank you for your interest in the DPP annual meeting.

The presenting author is expected to register for and participate in the meeting and present the abstract. Failure to register for the meeting may result in removal of your abstract from the program. Presenting authors are limited to one technical oral presentation at DPP annual meetings (including invited talks, contributed talks, and mini-conference talks). This practice began in 2024 due to space limitations at our annual meetings. APS members may submit a contributed abstract(s) for which a non-member is listed as presenter.

Due to rising costs, the DPP Executive Committee has revised the virtual presentation options for this year’s meeting. Hybrid oral contributed sessions will no longer be offered. Instead, there will be live virtual-only contributed sessions. Remote presenters can give their talk, and in-person attendees can watch the presentations online. In addition, virtual attendees will be able to view live invited, review, and tutorial sessions from their home or office.

To ensure abstracts are placed in the appropriate session, please indicate your intended presentation format (in-person or online) at the time of submission. If you are uncertain about your attendance, we encourage you to submit your abstract closer to the deadline and/or submit for a virtual presentation. This will not preclude you from attending the meeting in person. DPP will not be able to accept changes to presentation formats after Monday, July 28.

Oral Presentation (In-Person)

Present in person at the meeting in Long Beach. You must attend the meeting in person.

Poster Presentation (In-Person)

Display your poster at the in-person meeting in Long Beach. You must attend in person. You are encouraged to upload your poster to the virtual platform so remote attendees can view it.

Oral Presentation (Virtual)

Present live online to attendees on the virtual platform. You will be placed in an online-only session. You may attend virtually or in-person, but you will need to present and manage the virtual platform independent from the in-person meeting.

Poster Presentation (Virtual)

Upload your poster and a short video to the virtual platform. No live presentation is required.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Presenters can submit one technical oral presentation and one technical poster presentation at DPP annual meetings in either the same category or a different category. The oral presentation can be either in a contributed session, a mini-conference session, or an invited session. Any additional abstract submissions by the same presenter will be assigned to the Supplemental Poster Session on Friday morning.

  • A presenter who submits an education, engagement and DEIA abstract is allowed one additional abstract submission in a regular session (these talks do not count towards the limit of one technical oral abstract).
  • Presenters are expected to register for the conference. Failure to do so will result in withdrawal of the abstract.

Start abstract submission by logging into the American Physical Society 2025 Abstract Submission Site. Before submitting an abstract, all submitters and presenters must accept the Permission Agreement. Both submitters and presenters must acknowledge reading the Permission Agreement. Failure to grant permission will result in withdrawal of the abstract.

Before submission review Best Practices for Writing Titles and Abstracts.

To speed up submission, know the number of authors, select the appropriate Sorting Category, add publication references, and proofread the abstract. List Team and Funding Acknowledgements. Special Instructions are helpful to the APS staff and the DPP Program Committee members.

DPP Invited speakers must submit an abstract separate from the abstract that was a part of their nomination package. The invitation letter will include invited speaker instructions and a unique link to submit your abstract. Do not submit an invited speaker abstract until an invitation letter is received mid-June 2025. Invited speaker abstracts should have one author, colleagues can be acknowledged in Special Instructions.

Undergraduate or High School Students Doing Research

We encourage undergraduate and high school students to consider submitting their research in subject category 12.00, which will place their presentation in a special poster session with other students. Students should submit their abstracts as contributed posters following the abstract submission procedure. The deadline for undergraduate and high school students is extended to Friday, August 15 2025.

DPP will present an outstanding student poster award to several undergraduate students. The special poster session provides an opportunity for undergraduates to present results from summer and thesis research, as well as to meet other plasma physicists, such as early career, senior researchers, and other students.

If an undergraduate student who is fully enrolled in a graduate student program in the fall, he or she should register as a Graduate Student Member or Graduate Student Non-Member.
