Call for nominations of invited speakers and Symposia

By Jaime A Fernandez-Baca posted 07-21-2022 13:37

Dear GMAG members

The APS Topical Group on Magnetism and its Applications (GMAG) is organizing sessions in 8 Focus Topics (see full list of GMAG sponsored Focus Topics and their lead organizers below) and up to 8 invited symposia for the 2023 March Meeting of the American Physical Society in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 6-10, 2023.  We are writing to you to solicit nominations for invited speakers for these Focus Topic sessions, as well as for nominations for invited symposia.

The deadline for these nominations is August 5, 2022. All the nominations must be made using the new APS Speaker/Symposia Nomination System (Plantstone):

https://PHYSICS.planion.com/Z?8668083L3

The APS Speakers/Symposia Nomination System (Planstone) allows individual nominations of invited speakers for Focus Topic sessions as well as nominations for symposia (consisting of five invited speakers plus two alternates covering a particular theme of current interest).

Please confirm with any nominees that they would be available and willing to participate before you nominate them, and that they have not given a technical talk at the 2022 March Meeting, which would make them ineligible this year (2022 invited speakers are listed here: https://meetings.aps.org/Meeting/MAR22/APS_Invited ).

Finally, serving a diverse and inclusive community of physicists worldwide is a primary goal for APS. Nominations of women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and scientists from outside the United States are especially encouraged.

Inquiries about the GMAG sponsored Focus Topic sessions should be addressed to the lead organizers listed below. Inquiries about potential GMAG sponsored symposia should be addressed to the chair of the GMAG March Meeting Program Committee, Clarina dela Cruz (delacruzcr@ornl.gov).

Sincerely,

Clarina dela Cruz

GMAG Chair Elect/ GMAG March Meeting Program Committee
