We are pleased to announce the Fall 2024 Joint Meeting of the Texas Section of the APS, the Texas Section of the AAPT, and Zone 13 of the SPS (TSF24) to be held on October 17 – 19, 2024 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
The meeting website can be found at https://www.physics.smu.edu/web/TSAPS2024/. We encourage submissions for posters and contributed talks from ALL areas of physics. TSAPS includes Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma, and we will appreciate participation from all three states of TSAPS.
In addition to numerous exciting physics sessions, we expect to have some workshops organized by the Texas Section of AAPT.

- Joel Meyers (Southern Methodist University) - Cosmology
- Lorin Matthews (Baylor University) - Dusty Plasma & Space Physics
- Zihao Ou (University of Texas - Dallas) - Biophysics
- Neena Imam (Southern Methodist University) - Data Science & Artificial intelligence
The banquet speaker will be John Cotton & Randy Scalise (Southern Methodist University).

Registration to attend the meeting and abstract submission for contributed talks and poster presentations are now open.
- The abstract submission deadline is Monday, September 16, 2024.
- The early registration deadline is Monday, September 30, 2024.
- The late registration continues until Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
We have a limited number of travel grants for students who are giving presentations at the meeting. The application form for student travel grants is available on the local host’s meeting site.
Outstanding Oral Presentation and Poster Awards will be given to graduate and undergraduate students based on the excellence of their physics research and the quality of their presentations. All students giving presentations will automatically be considered for these awards. Attendees with a PhD in physics or a related field are encouraged to volunteer as student presentation judges or session chairs.
The Steven Weinberg Award and Robert S. Hyer Research Award will be presented at the Fall 2024 TSAPS meeting to one graduate and one undergraduate student, respectively, for excellence in physics research. Nominations should be submitted by Monday, September 23, 2024; the nomination packet should be emailed to TSAPS chair Kenichi Hatakeyama (kenichi_hatakeyama@baylor.edu).
The Texas Section Distinguished Service Award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Texas Section of the APS over several years. Nominations are due Friday, September 27, 2024; the nomination packet should be emailed to Kenichi Hatakeyama (kenichi_hatakeyama@baylor.edu).
