Nominations for 2025 TAOAPS Awards (Weinberg Award, Hyer Award, and Distinguished Service Award) are open

Dear Colleagues,

We are seeking your nominations for the 2025 TAOAPS Steven Weinberg Research Award, Robert S. Hyer Research Award, and Distinguished Service Award. The awards will be presented at the Fall 2025 TAOAPS meeting to be held at Texas Christian University.

Steven Weinberg and Robert S. Hyer Research Awards
The Steven Weinberg and Robert S. Hyer Research Awards will be awarded to candidates who must have been graduate and undergraduate students respectively when the research was performed. The main criterion is excellence, including potential impact in the relevant scientific community. The research must be in physics or a physics-related subject, and it must have been presented at a Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma APS meeting within the past two years by the student who must have been a TAOAPS member at the time. We do allow the research to be presented at the same meeting in which the award is presented. Details of these awards can be found at:

Nomination packets should be submitted using via the nomination portal by Monday, September 22, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET. Eligibility questions can be directed to Prof. Jeremy Holt at holt@physics.tamu.edu. Technical inquiries related to the nomination forms should be directed to honors@aps.org.

Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma Section Distinguished Service Award (TAOAPS DSA)
This award is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions over several years to the Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma section of the APS. These contributions include leadership through service on the executive committee and/or TAOAPS sponsored activities such as the Fall and Spring Regional conferences, or other activities that significantly promote excellence in Physics in the TAOAPS region. Details of these awards can be found at the TAOAPS-DSA page.
