Town Meetings
NSAC Long-Range Plan 2015
At the Nuclear Science Advisory Committee (NSAC) meeting on April 24-25, 2014 in Bethesda, MD, NSAC was charged from the DOE Office of Science and the Mathematical and Physical Sciences division of the NSF requesting the development of a Long Range Plan for nuclear physics.
The timing is such that the white papers from all areas of nuclear physics are due by December (2014) with a resolution meeting to take place sometime in Jan/Feb/Mar 2015. Recommendations are desired by DOE by March 2015 and the report is due in October of 2015.
The DNP executive committee has the responsibility for organizing and running the various town meetings. Many of the areas of nuclear physics have overlapping interests in answering the open science questions as well as the tools that we use to answer those questions while we train the next generation of scientists. In this regard, the DNP executive committee will work with conveners of the various town meetings in order to increase the interactions between sub-fields of nuclear physics. Chair of NSAC (Don Geesaman) is responsible for appointing the writing committee.
We expect to have four main town meetings and various workshops that will feed into Long Range Planning.
The DNP executive committee has appointed the conveners and they are listed below along with any other information regarding upcoming town meetings if they are scheduled as well as other related meetings of interest for our community.
All members of the DNP are encouraged to participate and begin discussions as soon as it is feasible within and across the various components of nuclear physics.
