The APS Topical Group on Data Science is governed by an Executive Committee, which takes general charge of the affairs of the Group. All unit members in good standing are eligible to be elected and to nominate other eligible members. We are looking for candidates from diverse backgrounds to share the governance of the Topical Group. We encourage early career members and student members to be part of the governing body, as well as members with connections to the industrial physics community.

We invite your nominations of candidates for election as members of the Executive Committee (EC) of the APS Topical Group on Data Science. The following positions are open for election for the specified terms.

  • Vice Chair (4-year term, first as Vice Chair, then Chair-Elect, then Chair, and finally Past Chair)
  • Secretary (3-year term)
  • Early Career Member-at-Large (2-year term) *must be students or post-doctoral associate members

*Please note that the member elected as Vice Chair shall serve in that Office for one year, then for one year as Chair-Elect, and then for one year as Chair, and then for one year as Past Chair.

If you wish to nominate yourself or another member as a candidate for election to an open position, please submit your nomination to the Nominating Committee. Deadline is November 27th, 2023.

The membership of APS is diverse and global, and the Executive Committees of APS Units should reflect that diversity so that all voices are involved and empowered to have an impact on our community. Nominations of members belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in physics, such as women, LGBT+ scientists, scientists who are Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), disabled scientists, and scientists from outside the United States are especially encouraged. Students and early career members are also encouraged to participate in all unit leadership committees.
