UKPPG/DPOLY Polymer Lecture Exchange

Nominations Solicited for UKPPG/DPOLY Polymer Lecture Exchange

To continue to strengthen ties between the Division of Polymer Physics (DPOLY) of the American Physical Society (APS) and the Polymer Physics Group of the Institute of Physics in the United Kingdom (UKPPG), the UKPPG/DPOLY Polymer Lecture Exchange was established in 2009. Starting with meetings in 2009 and offered every two years to coincide with the UKPPG Physical Aspects of Polymer Science (PAPS) meetings, each group will choose a person who will present an invited lecture at the meeting of the other group.

Nominations (due Dec 31, 2022) are being solicited for a young scientist to represent DPOLY and lecture at the Fall 2021 UK PPG meeting in the UK.

In order to be eligible, the nominee must be a current DPOLY member and have received a Ph.D. within 6 years of the nomination deadline (December 31, 2022). In the case of research career breaks due to military service, illness, caring for a child, dependent, or family member, eligibility will be extended by a maximum of one year. In such cases, the nominator should send a separate one-sentence letter to the DPOLY Chair requesting an eligibility extension due to a research career break without specific details (do not include this information in the nomination letter).

The nomination packet should be sent as one pdf file to Mahesh Mahanthappa and include the following:

  1. Nomination Letter including a statement that the candidate is available to present a lecture at the PPG meeting.
  2. Two supporting Letters
  3. CV
  4. Copies of three publications.

The nomination deadline is December 31, 2022.

Note: Due to a shift in the schedule of the UKPPG PAPS meeting dates triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the next UKPPG lecturer will be selected by nominations due on December 31, 2025 to attend the 2026 UKPPG PAPS meeting.
