The 132nd Topical Symposium of the New York State Section of the APS will be held at the University at Buffalo, SUNY, Natural Sciences Complex (NSC) Room 215, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. This one-day symposium, Frontiers in Quantum Materials and Phenomena, will bring together researchers from across New York State and the Northeast to share new developments and strengthen collaboration in quantum science.
The program will feature invited talks covering a broad range of research in quantum materials, including nanostructures and photonic systems, two-dimensional and layered materials, topological and correlated phases, spin-based phenomena, and quantum devices and information technologies. The symposium will also include a short workshop on quantum physics education, offering perspectives on evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning in this rapidly evolving field.
Reflecting its interdisciplinary scope, the symposium will be of interest to physicists, materials scientists, and researchers across related areas. A student poster session will provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to present work in any area of physics. Poster presenters will receive free registration, and awards will be given at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The symposium will conclude with a dinner and awards reception, encouraging networking and informal discussion among participants.
