We are pleased to announce the Fall 2023 Joint Meeting of the Texas Section of the APS, the Texas Section of the AAPT, and Zone 13 of the SPS to be held on October 12 – 14, 2023 at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.
The meeting website can be found at http://www.angelo.edu/TSAPS. We encourage submissions for posters and contributed talks from ALL areas of physics. In addition to numerous exciting physics sessions, we will also have an industry/career panel and resume-writing workshop. The meeting will conclude with an outreach event celebrating the spectacular annular eclipse from 10:20 am to 1:25 pm on Saturday, October 14.
Invited plenary speakers include:
- Terry Adams (Los Alamos National Laboratory) – Computational Physics
- Rachael Beaton (Space Telescope Science Institute) – Astronomy
- Ching-Hwa Kiang (Rice University) – Biophysics
- Dennis Schatz (Institute for Learning Innovation) – Science Educator
The banquet speaker will be Ginger Kerrick Davis – Chief Strategy Officer, Barrios Technology, Ltd. and Vice Chairwoman, Texas Tech University System Board of Regents.

Registration to attend the meeting and abstract submission for contributed talks and poster presentations is now open.

- The student travel awards deadline is Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
- The early registration deadline is Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
- Regular registration continues until Friday, September 22, 2023.
We have a limited number of travel grants for students giving presentations at the meeting. The application form for student travel grant is available on the local host’s meeting site.
Outstanding Oral Presentation and Poster Awards will be given to graduate and undergraduate students based on the excellence of their physics research and quality of their presentations. All students giving presentations will automatically be considered for these awards. Attendees with a PhD in physics or a related field are encouraged to volunteer as student presentation judges or session chairs.
The Steven Weinberg Award and Robert S. Hyer Research Award will be presented at the Fall 2023 TSAPS meeting to one graduate and one undergraduate student respectively for excellence in physics research. Nominations should be submitted by Monday, September 25, 2023; the nomination packet should be E-mailed to TSAPS chair Michael Kesden (kesden@utdallas.edu).
The Texas Section Distinguished Service Award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions over several years to the Texas Section of the APS. Nominations are due Friday, September 29, 2023; the nomination packet should be emailed to Michael Kesden (kesden@utdallas.edu).
