Fall 2022 Meeting of the Texas Section of the APS, the Texas Section of the AAPT, and Zone 13 of the SPS

We are happy to announce the Fall 2022 Meeting of the Texas Section of the APS, the Texas Section of the AAPT, and Zone 13 of the SPS to be held on October 13 – 15, 2022 at Rice University in Houston, with the exciting return of fully in-person meeting.

The meeting website can be found at https://tsaps22.rice.edu/. We encourage submissions for posters and contributed talks from ALL areas of physics. Please join us.

In addition to numerous exciting physics sessions, we will also have a series of events hosted by the National Mentoring Community, including a mentoring workshop focused on undergraduate students.

Invited plenary speakers include:

  • William Zajc (Columbia University) – High Energy Nuclear/Particle Physics 
  • Peter Onyisi (University of Texas - Austin) – Particle Physics 
  • Katy Mayer (University of Texas - San Antonio) – Biophysics 
  • Bri Hart (American Physical Society) – National Mentoring Community

Banquet speaker:

Ramamoorthy Ramesh (Rice University) – Material Science

 Registration to attend the meeting and Abstract submission for contributed talks and poster presentations is now open.

  • The abstract submission deadline is Monday, September 19, 2022.
  • The student travel awards deadline is Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
  • The early registration deadline is Thursday, September 22, 2022. Late registration is available.

We have a limited number of student travel grants for those who plan to give a presentation. Application form for student travel grant will be available on the Local host’s meeting website.

Best undergraduate and Graduate Student Outstanding Presentations and Posters Awards will be given to the meeting presenters based on the level of their participation in the research presented and the norms of excellence in physics.

Students with exceptionally important research can also be nominated for the Hyer Award for undergraduate research, or the Weinberg Award for graduate research. The deadline for the nominations is September 26, 2022. The recipients of these awards will be announced at the Fall meeting.
