    Hi all!

I'm Michelle Lollie and people call me everything (and I generally answer!): Michelle, Chelle, Chellie, Lollie, Lolliepop, etc. Nothing preferred haha.

    Pronouns: she/her/hers
Current status: 2nd year - Grad student at Louisiana State University (LSU), USA.

Many moons ago, a group of my high school friends and I finessed our way into the Monte-Carlo casino in Monaco during our senior trip (we were all underage). It was short lived...sigh.
I'm excited to "attend" the April meeting. My research interests lie in the realm of quantum computing/communication/sensing so I'm usually a March meeting kinda gal. I'm interested in the quantum cosmology session. Cheers!

    Hi Everyone!

I've enjoyed reading all the intros thus far and getting to know a little bit about each of you!

@Cassandra L Phillips - Skydiving is something I've always wanted to do but don't have the courage to. I'll definitely do the indoor skydiving though. More my speed. ๐Ÿ˜„

@Jay Desai - Bungee jumping is another activity I would like to do but is totally outside my comfort zone. Hmm, but it is said that life begins outside ones comfort zoneโ€‹...๐Ÿค”I'll think about it. Lol

โ€‹โ€‹@Daniel Alt - What's the best roller derby team name you've come across while refereeing?

@Mira Varma - Have you published any of your children's books? If so, maybe APS could look into adding it to the children's section of the APS store.

@AJMAL IBN MOHAMMED ALTHAF - Other than attending the virtual April Meeting conference, do you mind sharing what else you're doing to stay productive during the lockdown?ย

@Emlyn Graham - Where did you see the aurora borealis? I was in the air on a flight toย Reykjavรญkโ€‹. Did you get pictures and if so, do you mind sharing?ย

    โ€‹โ€‹@Payton Elyce Rodman - You're now the second person I โ€‹know withย brachydactyly type D. I think it's kinda cool.ย

โ€‹@Gordon Thomas Wattsย - I too like taking pictures at conferences. There's always next year!โ€‹โ€‹

@Meirin Oan Evans - ๐Ÿ˜†Eating biscuits hands free? Sounds deliciously fun!

@Grayson Luke Wiggins - So I had to googleย deuteranopia and simian line...wow, fascinating! You're quite a unique individual.ย โ€‹

โ€‹@Matthew S Parsons - Did you go to the Blue Lagoon? If so, how was it?

@Carter William Chamberlain - So is that like the concept of astral projection? ๐Ÿค”

@Pranav G Nalamwar โ€” Have you observed anything interesting in the night sky that you'd like to share?

@Egla Ochoa-Madrid โ€” You used to sing opera? That is pretty cool! What's your favorite opera?

@Michelle L Lollie โ€” Though short lived, finessing your way into the Monte-Carlo casino in Monaco while underage is kinda boss. It screams secret agent spy. ๐Ÿ˜„

Again, it's been great reading these fun facts and learning more about all of you!

The goal of this space is to foster community around the April Meeting. Don't be afraid to start discussions/continue conversations from sessions you've attended. You can also network by sending contact requests to fellow attendees. To send a contact request, you can simply go to the Membersย tab of the community or just hover over an attendee's avatar bubble and select "Request Contact". โ€‹โ€‹You can also send private messages if so desired.ย The community is self moderated so if you come across any posts that violate the terms and conditions of the platform, you have the ability to flag them by clicking the dropdown arrow of the Reply button next to the post and then Mark As Inappropriate. The post will then be flagged for moderation.ย

It is my hope that all of you take advantage of this community and that it becomes a self-sustaining hub of interaction and engagement.

Please enjoy the rest of today's sessions and I look forward seeing the virtual April Meeting community blossom!โ€‹

Yes I am trying to be productive in the academic part and non academical part.
In the academic part I am exploring astrophysics and quantum computing mainly.I got a start by using IBM Q for realizing quantum computing, and I made an image using FITS file from Hubble space telescope archive and attended other webinars organized related to astrophysics and space physics. As I am a masters student also learning things for my syllabus

And Non academically I am helping my dad in his agro processing industry.I know to operate some of the machinery there.

    My name is Jeffrey

My favorite things in the world are skiing, physics, and mathematics

I am a physician and was an undergrad physics major and have been an APS member (with some interruptions) for many years. I was looking forward to attending the meeting in D.C in person but happy that the meeting is now online. The biggest problem is choosing between all the interesting talks but much easier to switch "rooms" than at an in-person meeting. Enoy!!

I know I'm just chiming into this discussion on the fourth day so I hope I'm not too late to the party!

My name is Vaughn and I use he/him or they/them pronouns.
Fun fact: I just got into the hobby of birdwatching while hiking.
This is the first time I've been able to attend an APS meeting so this has been very exciting! I have really gained a lot of information and inspiration from the talks so far.

Looking to build up a network of peers in graduate school in physics. I'm currently embarking on the adventure of how to pursue a masters focusing on particle physics. Any words of wisdom are welcome!

Hope everyone's staying safe and healthy!

Hi my name is Tolga Erbora, just call me Tolga,ย male pronouns, I am a PhD student at FIU
Being on day 4 I guess I was? looking forward to things, but I was looking forward to seeing how the at home experience would change the conference experience. I think in some aspects the networking improved as a lot of the anxiety/timidity in approaching fellow physicists evaporates in the virtual sphere.
